I got home from shopping last night to find the "Mesa boys" there to help me unload my groceries and inform me they had borrowed a gallon of milk from my neighbors for some dinner consisting of....... cereal. Then they had a beautiful surprise for me. They were excited to show me all the "stuff" in my seat cushions of my chairs. It wasn't disgusting, just amazing how much stuff can fit in there and it still be a very comfortable chair. We then went to the couches where there was nothing (because Tess takes off the cushions daily to do her frog jumping from lilly pad to lilly pad).
Then there was a fun wrestling match where Zach (state champ this year) took on Steven (thin, tall non-wrestler). It was fun to watch the biting and pinching Steven reverted to, but then when Zach started making Stevens bones make noises, this girl mom put the kibosh on the wrestling. The night ended with a beautiful rendition of Weird Al Yankavich version of Amish Paradise sang by all the boys in tribute to Ryan's mission call to Pennsylvania. These boys make me happy.
Kayla, your a lucky girl to have such great friends, but I feel like a lucky mom to have a daughter that has made such good choices in friends. You have had many experiences with all kinds of friends and realized that you want to be around people who don't put you down and that you can be your best self with. You are that kind of friend to them too. It also really helps with the steady dating thing too. Remember when you dabbled in the "steady boy" a little your freshman and sophomore year, but you learned that its not the boy you are going steady with that makes you great or cool, its who you are on your OWN that makes you great. Thanks for being Kayla (and help me teach your sisters)
