This is for my, soon to be blogging sister, Tamee. Here is the first of many happy blogs!

Garrett was talking about when he gets to take snack and show and tell. His mom said, well, maybe we can take the new baby for show and tell and Garrett thought about it for a minute and said "No mom, I dont think she will fit in my backpack"

You also cant for get about Kendall falling down the stairs and Garrett saying, She said "oh, ah, oh, ah, oh, ah" all the way down the stairs.
The Fire, the falling at the hotel, the Bolwinkle family visit, the freezer and all the fun stuff happening in your life!
Sunday I had the scary opportunity of speaking in Stake Conference. President Richardson asked me to meet with my S.Y.W. presidency and choose the subject we felt the youth of our stake should hear about. We decided to focus on Mosiah 5:15 "I would that you should be steadfast and immovable, always abounding in good works......" We'll, because Bill has always been the speaker in our family and I have only given one other talk in the past 8 years, this freaked me out. The new Stake Center was packed all the way up and onto the stage. There were cameras on me to put on the screen in the back and into other rooms. I had the major stress zit right above my lip, and it was freezing up on the stage. Not really knowing how to give a talk very well, I put my notes on cards hoping it would just keep me on track with my thoughts, but it really ended up that I forgot to turn the cards after each thought, therefore missing a ton of my scriptures and comments. My 14 minute talk turned out to be 9 minutes of, Im sure, unrecognizable thoughts. It was suppose to be about the major problems facing our youth, Internet, cell phones, dvds, texting and most of the media and how we need to hold strong to the values placed in "The Strength of the Youth" book. My sister, Paula, and all her family came and so did some of my good friends and presidency members. If I were to get a second chance, I would have put more personal feelings and experiences in it and more quotes from our Prophets. It went OK, and since its over, I feel like I can start the holidays, including pumpkin pie eating and watching a good flick.

BLOGGERS ARE JUST FOLLOWING THE PROPHET! RIGHT???

To you women of today, who are old or young, may I suggest to you that you write, that you keep journals, that you express your thoughts on paper. Writing is a great discipline. It is a tremendous education effort. It will assist you in various ways, and you will bless the lives of many--now and in the years to come, as you put on paper some of your experiences and some of your musings." --President Gordon B. Hinckley

Trunk or Treat!

We love having the lot next door for activities. The Jensens bought it and will be building soon. We love them and are excited for them to be our neighbors, but us and the Poulsons will sure miss the fun we have had on the Carrolls lot. There were about 2 or 300 people with kids and too much candy. The Poulsons made a pot of witch brew rootbeer and Bill put out the mini bon fire and it was perfect weather.

Lexy Hancock and Shayna were all hopped up on sugar!

This was a play by play of Tessa and the sour pixie sticks!

I DID GOOD!

HOW DO YOU DECIDE WHOM TO MARRY? (Written by kids) You got to find somebody who likes the same stuff. Like, if you like sports, she should like it that you like sports, and she should keep the chips and dip coming. -- Alan, age 10

No person really decides before they grow up who they're going to marry. God decides it all way before, and you get to find out later who you're stuck with. -- Kristen, age 10

WHAT IS THE RIGHT AGE TO GET MARRIED? Twenty-three is the best age because you know the person FOREVER by then. -- Camille, age 10

HOW CAN A STRANGER TELL IF TWO PEOPLE ARE MARRIED? You might have to guess, based on whether they seem to be yelling at the same kids. -- Derrick, age 8

WHAT DO YOU THINK YOUR MOM AND DAD HAVE IN COMMON? Both don't want any more kids. -- Lori, age 8

WHAT DO MOST PEOPLE DO ON A DATE? Dates are for having fun, and people should use them to get to know each other. Even boys have something to say if you listen long enough. -- Lynnette, age 8 (isn't she a treasure)

On the first date, they just tell each other lies and that Usually gets them interested enough to go for a second date. -- Martin, age 10

WHAT WOULD YOU DO ON A FIRST DATE THAT WAS TURNING SOUR? I'd run home and play dead. The next day I would call all the newspapers and make sure they wrote about me in all the dead columns. -- Craig, age 9

WHEN IS IT OKAY TO KISS SOMEONE? When they're rich. -- Pam, age 7 The law says you have to be eighteen, so I wouldn't want to mess with that. - - Curt, age 7

The rule goes like this: If you kiss someone, then you should marry them and have kids with them. It's the right thing to do. -- Howard, age 8 (His momma is SO proud!)
IS IT BETTER TO BE SINGLE OR MARRIED? It's better for girls to be single but not for boys. Boys need someone to clean up after them. -- Anita, age 9 ( The wisdom of a child ... )

HOW WOULD THE WORLD BE DIFFERENT IF PEOPLE DIDN'T GET MARRIED? There sure would be a lot of kids to explain, wouldn't there? -- Kelvin, age 8

HOW WOULD YOU MAKE A MARRIAGE WORK? Tell your wife that she looks pretty, even if she looks like a truck. -- Ricky, age 10

My cousin Becky got married yesterday at V.V. Lakes. She was a beautiful bride and here is her dad, Uncle Bob, with her daughter KiKi

I went straight from the wedding to YW in Excellence. Here is a display of some of Breeas photography, she also made a great little quilt. I enjoyed watching her lead the music with such confidence, - not.

Kayla displayed her music writing project. She wrote a song for her friend Tim. She also sang "Font of every blessing" with Malorie Guthrie. It was a sweet night, with sweet testimonies, good food and the Spirit was there. What a blessing the Young Womens program is in our lives.
The night ended with a cute shoe picture.
Today when I picked up Tessas friend, Ella, I realized how funny it was to see:
Only girl: Perfect hair, always with bows and glitter spray. Real crystal jewelry, both necklace and bracelets. painted nails, both hands and feet. Pink ballerina dress with matching pink flower shoes. Dont forget the "looking brand new" princess backpack.
Last of 6 girls: Hair back in one ponytail, slightly combed, no curls or ribbons. Brown shirt, hair tie as a bracelet, old jeans, not zipped. Any shoes that there are two of. No backpack, just a food-stained folder.

Hate shopping, but loved this pillow saying.
Breeas fun to take anywhere, thats why I always bring a camera.

Mom was in town so we met for lunch.

We love our Grandma Hatch!
The night ended with the Bischofs stopping by. They are like family to us and we all love them a ton!

I HAVE BEEN SO WORRIED ABOUT THE PEOPLE IN CA. AND WONDERING WHAT WE CAN DO HERE, SO GLAD THE CHURCH IS STEPPING IN AND HELPING IN A BIG WAY!

Church Responds to California Wildfires
With fires raging in southern California, the Church has reported as of Tuesday afternoon:
All missionaries are safe.
Hundreds of members have opened their homes to give refuge to evacuee families.
Twelve meetinghouses are being used as temporary shelters. In several locations, occupants have been moved from one meetinghouse to another as mandatory evacuation areas have expanded.
Representatives from LDS Family Services are working with local priesthood leaders to provide counseling.
Church Property
Two smaller buildings at the Church’s Camp Hinckley recreation site near Lake Arrowhead have been destroyed. Church Response
Four truckloads of relief supplies, including food, water, blankets, cots, and hygiene kits have been provided to evacuees at Qualcomm Stadium, the Del Mar Fairgrounds, and other evacuee shelters.
Priesthood leaders are working with local officials to provide requested supplies and coordinate volunteers.
Relief supplies are being provided from local bishops’ storehouses.
Full-time missionaries are providing assistance at several evacuee locations.

I LOVE TUESDAYS!!!

This is me, Jennifer Gardner and Karen Lemieux. I know my bangs are messed up, but its ok, cause one of my idols (Jennifer) has a space in her bangs too. (I'll do anything to be like her)

Every Tuesday for the past year and a half I have had the opportunity to go into Gilbert to my old stake, the Gilbert-Stapley Stake, and attend Institute. I have been wanting to for years, but have always had a baby home. I still have a baby home, but I have worked out her going to preschool and then to a babysitter for a couple of hours. She loves it and so do I. I have dragged many people from the country into Gilbert for this class, probably about 10 people, to see if there were any takers for a weekly trip to Institute. Karen (sometimes Brenda) were my only friends to stick it out with me, and it has been such a blessing. Jennifer and I were in the same ward for years and have been through things like: her coming to see me after a baby, at my house, and as I went to answer the door I hemorrhaged and she was the one to take my McKenna and call the ambulance. I also remember the paramedics were hot! She got me into running, we got up to about 6 or 7 miles a day in the SUMMER! Im not a runner - I want to live longer - Im a walker/biker. She has ran for centuries and really takes care of herself, especially spiritually. She not only knows the scripture inside-out, but lives the Gospel and shares it and always has the spirit. She is amazing to me and has a "gift" of teaching. There hasn't been a Tuesday when I have wanted the class to be over, its usually the opposite - just one more hour would be the right amount of time. I am so grateful for her and her knowledge she shares to get me more excited about the Gospel. Next, I am thankful for good friends who have the same desire I do, to learn more about the Gospel. Brenda and Karen are my institute buddies and Karen and I always go to the temple right after institute (Brenda goes during the week with her husband) I love doing Initiatory work, I am learning alot. Being able to go to the temple has been a blessing, I LOVE going to the temple. Then we go straight to Cafe Rio or Costa Vida! What could be better? Sometimes we do a little shopping if we have time. Thanks Karen, for being such a die-hard Tuesday friend!

Yesterday I got to help Paula by picking up Quinn and having him stay with us for the evening - These two cousins need nothing to have fun together.

Breea and Jamison, or Dumb and Dumber

What a great Sunday! We got our new building we have all been praying for here in QC! We were the first ward to have Sacrament meeting at 8:00AM. After our church, I took Breea and we went to Paulas church where her, Tracy and Jamison were the speakers. Jamison did an awesome job and then Paula talked on the atonement and her tender feelings of the love of our Heavenly Father for us. Tracy had the same subject of the Atonement and the three of them (including Paula playing the piano for ward choir), made for a very spiritual church. Dani and Brennon came for dinner and while it was cooking I ran with Bill to the McDowells to confer the Aronic Priesthood on Levi. It was sweet, as he is so young, innocent and serious. His grandpa brought his priesthood chart that traced all the way back to Joseph Smith and Christ. The spirit was very strong as he got the Priesthood. Bill talked about how he felt so strongly the exchanging of keys as he released a presidency that day and put a new one in. These blessings of the spirit are priceless and I am grateful to be able to know of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon and the Keys of the Priesthood.
After we ate dinner Bethany and Jami came over for Ice cream and brownies and cards. We also enjoyed a game of Trivial Pursuit Jr., with Danica being the host and Brennon being the judge.

Pictures of tender moments at General Conference

There are tons more on this site:

Yesterday was not my favorite day. There was no hot water in our house. What are the chances both hot water heaters would go out the same day? They didn't, one just needed turned up and we haven't dug our way through the garage to see whats up with the other one. Then I am pouring milk from my laundry room refrigerator and the milk is pouring over the cereal in thick chunks. Lovely. Yep, the frig/freezer is shot! About 11:00 I start getting a headache that turned into a migraine. Luckily Tessa likes to lay down and watch tv with me in my room, so I got a couple hours sleep, woke up with 1/2 of a headache. I really had actually talked myself into going to the haunted house with some good friends, and my goal was to laugh and yell "chimichanga" at everyone. (thanks Karen) But, didn't go :-( We did make it to the hospital to see a friend in the ward, Carrie Philapone, who has struggled with a pregnancy, and stayed on bed rest. Sadly, her water broke and she is waiting to deliver. She can feel the baby moving and it is a very heart-breaking thing, but I was amazed at her faith that this is what Heavenly Father wants for her. She doesnt fully understand, but has trust that this is the way it is suppose to be. She has great family that was there by her side, waiting for the passing of her little girl. Her dad and Bill gave her a blessing and she assured everyone she is OK. That made me grateful for a day of dumb stuff and not big stuff. Then we were off to Andrew and Bonnies reception. Andrew has always been one of those boys any mom would love to have as a son-in-law and Bonnie seems like that kind of a girl. Saw lots of great "Island Ward" friends and Dani and Brennon. My favorite quotes of the night were: Brennon: Did you ever think you would have a son-in-law with such high goals? We said: Sure, whats your plans? Brennon: I'm gonna own the Phoenix Suns. We said: Cool, we would get good seats. Danica: Ya, that's why he wants to own them, he wants good seats too. (Note to Brennon, from mom, the "Reality Checker": Why don't you just buy the great seats?) Later, Danica was all dressed up in this cute dress and a lady told Danica that she looked pretty and it was a adorable dress, dad said: Ya, doesn't she look cute? Danica said: I hate when he does that. But it is definitely a Billism, just like smelling a glass before he drinks out of it.

Highlights of the reception was Andrews band playing, Bonnies mom singing, hot dogs and red soda, Bonnie singing "my guy" and just watching the two of them - they are perfect together.

Do you have a mom who parties too much and you are worried about her and would like to get her help?

I saw this question on TV for a Maury or Montel show today and it struck me funny, because my girls accuse me of this at times. What they don't realize is that when I say, we are going out, I don't plan on a party, but Bill makes everything a PARTY! I love my fun-seeker. He's a party all by himself.

McKenna (4 years old)

Sunday, Bill was talking in church and shared that he was over looking McKennas girl game that had about 20 questions of her "favorites". One of the questions was "What is the best gift you every got?" Her answer was "The Holy Ghost." I take that gift for granted sometimes and it will stick in my mind more now, the blessing that it is. Thanks McKenna. Then Monday morning at prayer time, we went around and told all of our plans for the week. Every one was very busy and the schedules had alot of detail. We got to Shayna and she said "Monday - nothing, Tuesday - um, nothing, Wednesday - I think I have something, Thursday - nothing, Friday - nothing." "Do I have anything, mom?" It was so sweet how she wanted to be a part of the scheduling and go through every day even though she doesn't have too much going. Then at Home Evening, it was on optimism and one of the questions that she drew was "Do you have so much to do and so little time, that it gets you down?" We were all laughing, because Shayna has no schedule and is the sweetest, easiest-going 7 year old on the planet. When I wake her in the morning, she has a smile - every day! I'm a lucky mama

Sweet Day!

Bill took the kids to the ward camp-out last night (SWEET), so this morning Kayla and I woke and got ready for Tim F. Jr. funeral. Danica and Brennon show up to detail my car (their b-day gift to me). It was so SWEET.

Tim Filichia Jr.'s funeral was beautiful. The music was amazing. Light performed a number, Michelle Behr sang a song she wrote, Daddy Tim sang a touching song and the final number was by his three sisters. The message of Tims life was one that inspired me to want to be more selfless, testify more and treat EVERYONE like gold. SWEET.

This is Kayla, Catie, ? (cant recall her name) and myself on the way home from the funeral in Klowd9. I love hanging with my girls and their friends, thanks for sharing them with me, Kayla. SWEET.

We stopped by the Filicias to drop off a gift and had to take a picture of these beautiful flower LIGHT planted for them. They're gonna be beautiful when they are all grown, and remind the Filichias of the love these kids have fore them. SWEET.

We were on our way to the Dodge Theatre to watch Brian Regan and this is what the traffic looked like, not an exit in sight and the truck was out of gas. We had Dani and Brennon and Gaylene and Maddie Merchant with us though, so good conversation happened to keep my mind off our state of gaslessness. MELSABELL (Melanie Merchant) is getting married December 27th!!! Love that girl and glad Danica had such a great friend.

Bill,Vonda,Danica,Brennon,Mike and Gaylene Merchant, Brenda and Sterling Tanner, Mariah T. and Maddie M.
Brian Regan was hilarious, not even a breath in between laughs. So clean too. Thanks Tanners!

Had to throw these pictures in of us heading home from the performance, cuz they are SWEET!

Tonight we went with our friends, Al and Rena Chicago, to the first of the Rockies/D-back playoffs. The excitement came when the second base ref called 2nd, then 1st base out because the runner ran into the 2nd baseman. Then he made the runner on 3rd go back to 2nd. The fans went crazy with booing and throwing things onto the field.
I felt sorry for the Rockies, they didn't want to get hit by debris, so they hung out by the pitchers mound for about 10 minutes until the game resumed.
We were sitting on the first base line about 35 seats up and we didn't sit down too much. I got my workout cuz Bill is cheap and didn't want to pay 40 bucks for parking, so we had a good 2 mile walk to our car. My dogs are barkin.

It wouldnt get done......

I would have never taken my kids to the butterfly exhibit at the Desert Botanical Gardens........
If Grandma and Grandpa Guttery wouldnt have invited us.

It would be months before I would have cleaned behind, ontop and under my fridg in the laundry room........
If my dishwasher wouldn't have stopped working, causing me to call a repair man, who said he would look at both for the same price.

I would have waited until Saturday, maybe Sunday to prepare to speak at Stake Auxiliary Training.............
If I didn't have such an awesome presidency being on top of everything, and calling a meeting for tonight to get prepared.

I wouldn't have had a fun gift to give my good friends tonight................
If Danica hadn't called, having a couple of hours, came over and decided to make crystal jewelry for friends and friends babies.

I wouldn't have realized how bad Kaylas headlights are on "Klowd9" ....... If she hadn't decided to help her Mesa friends take a bike into town and needed to take my truck.

Thanks, all you awesome people in my life, that keep me on top of the things I need to be doing - your all angels.

Yesterday we received tragic news about our good friends the Filichias son Tim Jr. (In the middle) He was traveling back to BYU from Mesa and was involved in an accident and killed. Yesterday was a very tough day for us as our thoughts were on the Filichias and their loss. This was not hard at all for me to see the Lords hand in this. Tim was not your normal guy, he was a young man that never wavered in his beliefs. He spread the Gospel in many ways, but mostly through his example, his music and the way he could talk to ANYONE. He made me feel like a good friend (I always wanted to set him up, but rarely could find a girl I thought was good enough, and then when I did, he was attached) My last memory of Tim was this summer as Bill and I were dropping Kayla off for Ambassador of Light practice, he came to our window and we got to talking about his future and school and girls. We had extra Taco Bell and asked him if he was hungry, so he hopped in the back seat with Tessa and helped us eat. We had a good time watching Tessa flirt while spilling Taco Bell everywhere. Tim is so much like his dad, and that was something he was proud to be. Some words to describe Tim are: Every bodies friend, happy, missionary, perfect son, performer, ambitious, example, caring brother, FUNNY, strong testimony, family man, talented, Christ-like, soft-hearted, caring and so many more. Kayla always said that's the kind of guy she wanted to marry and now it makes a little more sense why Heavenly Father didn't send Tims wife, the heartbreak for a man like this might have been too much for a wife. Filichias, we are praying for you and thank you for the amazing young man you shared with the rest of us.

couldn't get a bigger picture:(

Saturday Breea took these great shots at the Desert Botanical Gardens. Grandma and Grandpa Guttery wanted to take them to see the Butterfly exhibit, but it was closed, so they just walked the trails.

Grandma Guttery is such a blessing to our girls. She is always wanting to explore, hike, work, walk, clean and serve! My girls are definitely attached to Grandma Ordene in more ways than one.

Shayna gets her cleaning fetish from Grandma! THANKS

Grandpa Guttery is a fun tease that dishes out alot, but takes alot too.

Another highlight of the weekend was general conference!

I love this picture. President Hinkley tapped our new 2nd Counselor to the Prophet, Henry B. Eyring on the head. My favorite talk was on writing down each day how the Lord has touched mine or my families life. He said to Recognize, record and remember. Thats gonna be my new blog header!

Here's a look at what conference looks like at the Guttery house.

After conference, Mike and Jennie came over, they are ENGAGED! These are two of the neatest YA ever, and we love them.

After they had Cafe Rio Pork salad, they left and we were on to the Bradleys to see.........
